Where it all began. In 1971, a coffee shop called Ajanta started serving 'yakuzen curry' — a medicinal soup of 30 spices and 15 Chinese herbs, originally with no ingredients in it at all. That bowl is regarded as the origin of soup curry. The soup is still ground from whole spices every morning from 5 a.m., with no MSG and nothing frozen. Half a century on, this is the source.
